Neighborhoods of Hope Community Housing (NHCH) is a non-profit organization committed to creating vibrant, inclusive communities where every individual and family—regardless of income—can access safe, affordable housing and comprehensive services that promote well-being, dignity, and opportunity for a fulfilling life.
About Us
Our strategy is to build or buy, own, and operate affordable housing for the hard-to-house (those who suffer from disabilities or have past convictions on their record,) and partner with other organizations to provide residents the resources, education, training, and support they need to become stable, thriving members of our community. Ultimately, this approach enables those who are ready to become quality renters and homeowners the opportunity they likely wouldn’t be afforded through traditional channels.
We are also dedicated to creating independent living options for low-income seniors, giving them safe, affordable homes where they can maintain their independence and quality of life.

Erik Berg
Executive Director
Erik Berg, Executive Director, oversees all phases of affordable housing, including predevelopment, design and engineering, entitlements, financing, construction and asset management.

The focus of Erik’s 15-year career has been affordable and mixed income housing and real estate development. Before joining Neighborhoods of Hope Community Housing, Erik served as a Senior Project Manager with housing-focused nonprofits, an Underwriter for the Missouri Housing Development Commission’s Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, and as the Executive Director of a public housing authority. Erik also serves as Director of Housing Development for Catholic Charities of Kansas City – St. Joseph. Erik holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Master of Urban Planning degree from the University of Kansas.
